Da Chrimp »

Hook: Mustad 34007 size 1 or 2 or 4 . (Pictured is a #4)
Thread: Flat waxed nylon - color dependent
Tail: Cross cut rabbit strip - color dependent
Body: deer body hair - two different colors
Head: small eyes bead chain eyes - use larger eyes if you want it on the bottom
Weed Guard: 30-pound mono

Tie in a rabbit strip that is the length of hook somewhere between the hook barb and point

Trim the deer hair - you can whip the thread and cut it to trim the hair or leave the line attached
Tie in the weed guard if you want one

Capt. Caveman »

Hook: Mustad 34007 size 1 or 2 or 4 .
Thread: Flat waxed nylon - color depends on craft fur
Tail: Craft fur stripped with a marker
Body: Medium Chenille (using larger chenille will not work well, the dubbing loop hides the larger chenille by wrapping it down with the dubbing loop)
Wing: Palmered Craft fur in a dubbing loop
Head: X small to small eyes
Weed Guard: 30-pound mono

Color choices are up to you..I started tying this fly in tan and orange…I have also tied it with EP fibers, tends to look more like a pinfish or fish pattern than a skrimp with the EP

Tie in craft fur tail somewhere between the hook barb and point
Take a marker and bar the tail
Tie in dubbing loop on top of tail and hook shank
Pull dubbing loop away from the hook and secure it on the vise (I usually hang it on the vise)
Tie in medium chenille in front of the dubbing loop
Wrap thread forward and tie in dumbbell eyes
Wrap thread back behind the eye
Palmer chenille forward and tie off behind the eyes
Cut some craft fur and insert it into the dubbing loop and spread it out and twist
Palmer the dubbing loop through the chenille to the back of the eyes and tie off
Take a small comb and comb the hair back
Tie in the weed guard if you want one
Whip finish and apply head cement.

The Abomination »

Hook: Mustad 34007 size 2
Thread: Olive Ultra Thread 140
Tail: Crystal Flash (Copper Root Beer), Enrico’s EP Fibers (Olive Tan)
Body: Aunt Lydia’s (Rug Yarn) (Tan Cream) or Enrico’s EP Fibers (Olive Back Country)
Head: Medium Bead Chain (use heavier to cover the water column)
Weed Guard: 25 pound hard mason mono

This fly was created by Capt. Paul Fisicaro - this is my interpretation of his creation. The fly is something in the middle of the road between a kwan and toad.

Wrap hook shank with thread to just past the barb
Now tie in the Enrico’s EP Fiber tail, length is twice the hook
Now bar the tail with a brown or green magic marker
Tie in flash twice the length of the hook
Take some Sally Hansen Hard as Nails and coat.
Now figure eight five pieces of yarn or Enrico’s EP Fiber alternating colors
Tie in the dumb bell eye and super glue
Cut the yarn or Enrico’s EP Fiber diagonally from the hook shank
Add a little Sally Hansen Hard as Nails to the top and bottom of fly to lock in the wraps
Tie in the weed guard
Whip finish and head cement.

Tail: Copper Crystal Flash, select tan craft fur and burnt mono eyes
Egg Sac: Ice chenille large orange
Body: Estaz Grande Root Beer

It’s basically a mangrove critter with one difference, the body is wrapped with Estaz Grande vice yarn.

Wrap hook shank with thread to just past the barb
Tie in flash twice the length of the hook
Then do two wraps with the Ice chenille large orange
Next add the burnt mono eyes
Now tie in the craft fur tail, length is twice the hook
Now bar the tail with a brown magic marker
Tie in the Estaz Grande.
Wrap thread forward and tie in the dumb bell eyes
Tie in the weed guard
Now palmer the estaz forward, stroking it as you wrap it to the dumb bell eyes
Tie off the estaz
Wrap thread forward and whip finish and head cement.

Spawning Shrimp »

Hook: Mustad 34007 size 2 or 4.
Thread: Flat waxed nylon (color your choice)
Tail: Crystal Flash (color similar to wing), silli-legs (color your choice) and burnt mono eyes
Egg Sac: Ice chenille large orange
Body: Ice chenille or estaz (color your choice) - medium to large depends on how buggy you like your bugs
Wing: Palmered select craft fur (color your choice)
Head: 1/8 eyes (hook size dependent)
Weed Guard: 20-pound hard mason mono

My version of the EP spawning shrimp Noleflyfishers shrimp. Color is your choice for the fly, as well as hook size.

Wrap hook shank with thread to just past the barb
Tie in flash twice the length of the hook
Tie in Silli-legs 2/3’s the length of the flash
Tie burnt mono eyes.
Tie in large orange ice chenille egg sac, two or three wraps only.
An option is to wrap the whole body with the egg sac chenille, the white ones in the picture above are that way.
Tie in chenille for the body
Wrap thread forward and tie in eyes leaving space for weed guard.
Wrap the body chenille half the distance to the eyes and tie off.
Now form a dubbing loop 3-4 inches and fill with craft fur. I place the cut ends of the craft fur close to the dubbing loop, space the fur up and down the loop, then spin the dubbing loop. Once the loop is tight, the craft fur will be spun around the dubbing loop…take time to comb the hair out, give it a brush. Once you have it in order palmer it around the shank to the eyes, make sure you stroke the hair back as you palmer forward. Wrap thread around the loop and cut the excess dubbing loop off and wrap some more to secure it.
Tie in the weedguard
Whip finish
Head cement.
The craft fur wrapped around the body as you palmered it, comb out the hair, cut any wild hairs and you are done.

Enjoy…if you tie some up and catch something on it post it here, I’d love to see it

Wing: Palmered neck saddles.
Head: Brown deer body hair, flared w/ bead chain eyes

My version of the Borski Redfish Slider - Mine are a little more buggy than the original, but I like nothing better than a big Hors D’oeuvre, so does Mr. Redfish, Bon appetit :-D
