Hook: Size 1/0 to 4/0 long shank streamer hook
of your choice.
Ribbing/body: Light copper wire (This one uses fire orange)
Tail: Black, red and yellow saddles.
Top body: Black, red and yellow marabou.
Thread: Yellow Big Fly Thread.
Start with tying on the saddles of the three different colors for the tail.
Then tie on the wire and keep it back from the main body of the fly.
Tie on your first marabou piece back to the wire and begin to wrap the wire around the hook about two wraps behind the first piece of marabou, then about 4 wraps ahead of it. ( Varnish thread with each step)
Then tie in your second marabou of a different color and wrap it tight at the wire.
Again wrap the wire about four wraps in front of the marabou.
Repeat the process with alternating colors until you are at the front of the hook.
Tie off the last feather clump at the front and your done.
Note: When tying in the marabou, make sure to firmly pinch the feathers and tie down firmly on top of the hook shank. This makes sure the feathers don’t flare to the sides.
Instead of tying the wire down with each of the consecutive wraps, I snap small vice grips to the end of the wire and let the wire hang tight while i tie in my next piece of feather.
This assures that the wire will remain tight while I tie on my next piece of feather.

Size 12-8 heavy wire scud or nymph hook with or without curved shank.
Size 6/0 tan thread
Crystal or micro crystal hair in any light brown color.
Stretch Magic bead cord 1.8mm ( from Michael’s craft store or Walmart ).
Lots of flexible cement.
Tie in some crystal hair at the hook bend curving downwards for the tail. Then wrap thread three quarters up the hook shank and cement.
Tie in a piece of clear stretch cord two thirds the way up from the eye.
Wrap the thread continuously over the first layer of cord back to the tail and back again to the front of cord.
Cement and let sit.
Then pinch the cord up from the hook curve forward
so it’s resting on top of the now thread wrapped cord underneath.
Begin a first wrap and wrap in segments all the way towards the tail end.
Wrap back once again wrapping on top of the first segments of thread wrap to the front.
Cut the end of the cord at front tapering the cut
and bring top cord over bottom cord.
Tie down at hook eye and add crystal hair underneath to simulate legs.
Trim crystal hair and varnish the body and the head well. Let dry and varnish again.
This fly has a big head when it’s done.
This fly, even though you have one stretch cord over another, will not buckle. It’s tough.
Sorry for the instructions but it’s difficult to explain.
