Biot Extended Body Mayfly
By BandMan on Jul 4, 2008 in Coldwater, Fly Patterns
Hook: Emerger, size to match natural
Extended Body: Poly Yarn
Tails: Dark Blue Dun Microfibets
Extended Body: Turkey Biot over Superfine Dubbing (used to build taper)
Thorax: Superfine Dubbing
Wings: Rooster Neck, reverse half-hackle style
Hackle: Color to match natural, tied postless-parachute (with mono)
An extended body tool will make this MUCH easier to tie. I rigged up a C-clamp from an old vise and attached it to my desk. I then ran the cord from a retractor through it and fitted a barrel swivel to the end of it. Pull the cord over to the poly yarn (tied in forming a loop), then use the rotary function of my vise to wrap my thread and materials on the extended body.
