Eyes - any large Hard type Eye - the ones pictures are about the size of a nickle epoxied to two strands of 50# mono
Tentacles - Super Hair Base, Long Krystal Flash for the feeding tentacles, Syn-yak
Mantle - Layers of Super Hair
Fins - Hula Wrap
Flash - Amount Optional - Angel Hair
There are Two tricks to this tie.
First mounting the eyes. I epoxy the eye to two strands of 50# mono so that they can work with and against each other to support to eye and cause vibrations in the water. I loosely wrap the mono to the side of the hook shank then carefully pull on the top strand to work the eye into position.
The Super Hair in the Tentacles is tied in first, and then stiffened with Softex.
The Super Hair mantel is tied in like the Classic Maine fly the Groceries. The Super hair is first tied down at its mid point, then thread is wrapped BEHIND the super hair to stand it up. Then the other half of the hair is folded back, and flaired around the thread wraps to create a viel. This is done to build volume without bulk and to cause the materials to quiver in the water.
Colors probably don’t matter, but I like my squid to have touches of pink yellow and orange. White and Chartreuse also work well, as does purple.

Hook: Mustad 34007 size 2 or 4.
Thread: Olive Ultra Thread 140
Tail: Copper Crystal Flash, select tan craft fur and burnt mono eyes
Egg Sac: Ice chenille large orange
Body: Estaz Grande Root Beer
Head: 1/8 eyes
Weed Guard: 20-pound hard mason mono
It’s basically a mangrove critter with one difference, the body is wrapped with Estaz Grande vice yarn.
Wrap hook shank with thread to just past the barb
Tie in flash twice the length of the hook
Then do two wraps with the Ice chenille large orange
Next add the burnt mono eyes
Now tie in the craft fur tail, length is twice the hook
Now bar the tail with a brown magic marker
Tie in the Estaz Grande.
Wrap thread forward and tie in the dumb bell eyes
Tie in the weed guard
Now palmer the estaz forward, stroking it as you wrap it to the dumb bell eyes
Tie off the estaz
Wrap thread forward and whip finish and head cement.
