Hook: Eagle Claw 254 #3/0
Thread: White
Tail:50/50 blend of chartreuse and light blue bucktail blended and surround the shank under 2 pieces of bronze flash
Body: Copper braid to just short of half way up the shank
Collar 1: Lemon yellow marabou wound 4x
Collar 2: 2 piece of gold flash 2 pieces of silver flash and 2 pieces of fl. yellow flashabou
Collar 3: White schlappen double and palmered
Collar 4: Light olive marabou wound 4x
Collar 5: White schlappen 2 turns
Wing: Violet saddle
This pattern is based on the Alaskabou with a few modifications. A tail of bucktail is added and a feather wing of one saddle tied in flat. The second collar is made of schalappen rather than marabou to keep the following marabou collar from flattening out. (The bucktail tail also prevents the first marabou collar from flatten as well.)
As with the Alaskabou, the beauty of this pattern is the blending of colors.

Hook: Mustad 92611 size 2 to 1/0 with offset straightened
Thread: to match color scheme
Body: Two pieces of the soft side of Velcro
Tail: Marabou
Wing: 4-6 peacock herls
Eyes: 3D adhesive eyes
(Optional: glass worm rattle)
Cut two pieces of the soft side of adhesive-backed Velcro available in white, black tan), and sandwich the hook shank between the two pieces of Velcro (if you are putting in a worm rattle sandwich it between the Velcro above the hook shank). Trim the Velcro to the desired baitfish shape using a sharp scissors. If you use white Velcro, you can decorate the Velcro using Prismacolor or Sharpie permanent markers to match various baitfish as desired. Mount the fly in the vise. At the bend of the hook and the end of the body, tie in a tail of marabou. Tie off and cut the thread and coat the wrappings with head cement. Reattach the thread at the head of the fly, and tie in a wing of 4 to 6 peacock herls. Tie off, cut the thread and coat the wrappings with head cement. Apply the 3D adhesive eyes.

Hook : Gamakatsu SC15 # 2 or mustad 34007 4,6,8
Thread : 3/0 Red Monocord
Tail : 6 strands of brown marabou blood quills
Short tail : small tuft of tan marabou blood quills striped from one side of quill. To hold brown Marabou up and away from fouling
Eye : bead chain or x small plain lead for deeper water
Body : Brown n yellow Variegated Chenille
Hackel : Tan Hackle “Cree if you have them”
1) Jamb knot and go almost half
way down the bend of the hook
and come back up to the hook point ready to tie in the Brown marabou strands
2) Take 5 or 6 strands of dark brown marabou tie in back down to where the thread is down the bend of the hook bring thread back to hook point ready for the short tuft of tan marabou
3) Tie in tan marabou just like the brown but keep it short no longer than 1/3 of the brown marabou… now before you tie in the tan rip off all the longer quills on the tan to make it short and full. Don’t cut it pull it with you fingers…a more natural look
4) Tie in x small lead eyes or bead chain RIGHT ABOVE THE HOOK BARB!!!! or just before the bend of the hook, thats very important ( I did not do that in the picture and had to move it back!!!) If you don’t it will not taper like you want it to….
5) Tie in Tan grizzly or cree hackle and palmer almost to the eyes… leave room for the chenille head about 3/16″ will do… The size hackle I used is a little to big for the fly go one and half the size of the hook gap and it will look perfect…
6)Tie in the chenille three wraps in front of eyes 1/4″ is good… now wrap back 3 times to eyes the go over the top of the eyes around back by the hackle one time then under the eyes and once in front…( make a nice sized head around the eyes but not to much bigger than the eyes ) Then single wrap to the hook to the eye to form a nice taper…Make a small red head…
Note: put down cement on the thread before you do the chenille and it makes a very strong fly…

Glass eye dropper
Delta paint (don’t try another type of paint Delta will hold a mound shape and won’t run)
clear nail polish
use dropper to make size and color eye that you want…
let dry
use dropper for pupils
clear nail polish or epoxy for finish
these are the first ones i did… and the gold ones were my last ones i made… as you can see it doesn’t take long to get them to match in size
