Hares Ear Soft Hackle

Male quail breast feathers, hares mask, small copper wire, 8/0 thread

Start your thread about half way down the hook and continue to the bend. Tie in your copper wire and then begin to dub the body forward ;about 2/3 the hook length: with Hares mask, making sure to taper the body slightly, then wrap the wire spiraled up the body to give the fly a nice segmented look. Tie off the wire and tie in the quail brest feather by the tip (I used male quail here because it is slightly barred black and white) spin the feather a couple wrapps of the hook and then tie off and make a neat head and whip finish.
